Kettenbrücke Private Clinic
Shared Understanding, Clear Communication
A refined self-perception provides orientation for leadership and collaboration, forming the basis for reliable internal communication.
The Company
Largest Private Clinic in Western Austria
Kettenbrücke Private Clinic in Innsbruck is the largest private clinic in Western Austria. Approximately 150 doctors and 400 employees combine medical services of the highest standard with personal care and support.
Founded in 1910 by the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy, the healthcare institution now serves as a regional healthcare provider in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The values of the Sisters of Mercy continue to shape Kettenbrücke’s self-perception and culture to this day.
The Challenge
Key Elements of the Assignment:
To systematically advance Kettenbrücke Private Clinic, the organization’s shared self-perception needed to be refined. The starting point was an evolved corporate mission statement and a supplementary values compass. Both contained important elements of the company’s identity but also showed overlaps and gaps.
The goal was a shared, contemporary understanding of what Kettenbrücke Private Clinic should stand for, what should distinguish it, and how people within the organization want to work together. In a subsequent process, internal implementation became the focus: internal communication that supports good collaboration, transparent information, and commitment in daily operations.
-
Consolidation and refinement of the mission statement and values compass into a shared self-perception
-
Clarification of Kettenbrücke’s mission, cultural foundation, expectations for collaboration, and service promise
-
Creation of an understandable and practical framework for leadership, collaboration, and communication
-
Analysis and optimization of internal information and communication flows between different professional groups, functions, and levels
-
Strengthening communication with both employed staff and independent affiliated doctors
The Cornerstones of Our Approach:
The two projects shared a common logic: First, conceptual clarity was established regarding what Kettenbrücke Private Clinic should stand for and how good collaboration is understood. Building on this, it was clarified how information and communication must be organized so that this self-perception can be effective in daily work.
Joint reflection on the existing mission statement and values compass within the leadership team, and identification of overlaps, ambiguities, and areas needing refinement
Conception and development of an integrated self-perception by IMARK, followed by reflection, further development, and decision-making within the leadership team
In-depth analysis of internal communication through qualitative stakeholder interviews, a survey of affiliated doctors, and examination of existing information channels, formats, and pathways
Joint development of a target vision for internal communication and derivation of concrete action areas for information flows, responsibilities, dialogue formats, and communication channels
Supplementary development of guidelines and recommendations for meetings, analog communication tools, and other communication processes
Result & Impact
Benefits for Kettenbrücke Private Clinic:
